Burke's owner since 2005, Ginn Resorts is in the middle of improving the mountain, creating a quality, 4-season resort that respects the environmental integrity and unique character of Burke Mountain and the Northeast Kingdom.
"The pristine setting of Burke is what drew us there, and we want to preserve it," Mr. Julison said. "Our clients have been to the places that are overcrowded, and they're migrating away from them. That's who we're catering to, people who want to come to a place like the Northeast Kingdom because of its heritage as a peaceful getaway."
- - Ryan Julison, Spokesman, Ginn Resorts as quoted in the December 30, 2005 New York Times article "Hard Choices (and Work) Revive Burke"
The company has already made approximately $7 million in improvements that include:
- New high-speed quad chairlift
- Improved and expanded snowmaking
- Renovated base lodge
- New restaurant and pub in lodge
- New base lodge addition for additional seating and children's activities
- Complimentary wi-fi internet access in both lodges
- Enhanced cell phone coverage
- Expanded free guest services - ski and bag check, and equipment portage
