It was back in 1996 when Jack first set skis to Burke Mountain. An avid skier, he had experienced most of New England's resorts and was looking for something new. What he found was a true skier's dream - no crowds, great runs and conditions, and great people. He was hooked. It wasn't long before Jack bought a home here and, working closely with Burke's owners, built homes on the mountain to enable others to share the unique Burke experience. Today, every chance he gets, Jack is out there on the mountain or elsewhere in the Northeast Kingdom, reconnecting to this special place that he has made his second home.

Black River Design Architects is a Montpelier, Vermont based award-winning firm with over 25 years of experience. From its beginnings in the Northeast Kingdom, Black River has grown to serve all of New England, and has been recognized by AIA and Efficiency Vermont for innovative design and energy-efficient building solutions. The firm was the architect for Burke Mountain's Powderhorn Village townhome development.

Black River is comprised of highly skilled architects, designers and interior designers specializing in residential, institutional and commercial design and historic preservation. Since 1997, Kingdom Construction has provided general contracting and construction management expertise for a broad range of construction and renovation projects throughout Vermont and New Hampshire. Led by Luc Quiron and Karl Chaffee, the company’s diverse portfolio includes health care, office, municipal, residential, townhome, school and commercial projects. The Newport, Vermont based firm was the contractor for the Powderhorn Village townhome development.
